Apple Tells Suppliers iPhone Demand Has Slowed as Holidays Near
- 1cvmask 5y agoIt seems that general inflation in other goods may have led to lowered demand: Apple Inc., suffering from a global supply crunch, is now confronting a different problem: slowing demand. The company has told its component suppliers that demand for the iPhone 13 lineup has weakened, people familiar with the matter said, signaling that some consumers have decided against trying to get the hard-to-find item.
- poetically 5y agoI'm pretty sure we're headed for a recession. People have figured out that buying the latest gadget is not going to fix their real problems.
- 1cvmask 5y agoWell aggregate supply shocks lead to both lower output AND higher prices across the board. So you have a recession and inflation. The last time I think we saw similar shocks was in 1979 and 1973.
- poetically 5y agoEven if those problems did not exist we'd still be headed for a recession. The pandemic has given a lot of people time to think and some, maybe even most, have probably realized that the current economy is not actually serving their interests.
- 1cvmask 5y agoAre you referring to medical care system failing?
- poetically 5y agoI don't think it failed. It worked as expected for a system that is built for profits instead of actual healthcare. Which I guess makes my point about the economy not working for people's interests.
- slategruen 5y agoThe article is rather confusing. Is the demand lower relative to the previous weeks/months since the release of iPhone 13, or is it relative to the demand for iPhone 12 from the previous year?
