I actually did one of these as well. We couldn't get the video call to work, so the interviewer ended up having me write the code down, and then read it to him over the phone. At the time if felt pretty dumb (and still kinda does), but he was fairly reasonable about it, and most of the back and forth was me describing the algorithm to him.
