- yannoninator 5y agoAnd? This isn't news though, we all know.
- jackvalentine 5y agoThe news is they’ve admitted it after previously hiding it in violation of Mastodon’s licence while their marketing copy professed to be original.
- yannoninator 5y agoAnd they complied? It would be more worse if they didn't comply or respond at all. What's the issue?
- jackvalentine 5y agoThere isn’t an issue and I don’t know why you’re looking for one. This news resolved the issue that existed.
- millzlane 5y agoThey are easier and easier to spot aren't they?
- upofadown 5y agoIt hasn't even launched yet? Why is this even a thing?
- yosito 5y agoAt least it's got interoperability built in, then.
- riffic 5y agoI noticed the zip file a couple weeks ago (well someone else did and I posted about it to the parlerwatch subreddit): https://www.reddit.com/r/ParlerWatch/comments/qx0xh1/truth_social_releases_its_source_code/ https://www.reddit.com/r/ParlerWatch/comments/qx0xh1/truth_s... I would have been happy to have tipped off a reporter at the time, but they don't really seem interested in covering this kind of stuff. There's a repo with a diff against mainline Masto: https://codeberg.org/TruthSocial/diffs https://codeberg.org/TruthSocial/diffs there's more over at /r/Opensource: https://www.reddit.com/r/opensource/comments/r50vcq/is_there_any_update_on_the_trumps_group_truth/ https://www.reddit.com/r/opensource/comments/r50vcq/is_there...
- mccorrinall 5y agoAhhh yes, 300M USD for a company with two employees and without any working product. An investment for the future!
- post_from_work 5y agoSoooo, basically a standard SV SaaS company?
- mccorrinall 5y agoMost of them aren’t forking mastodon with a big name as a supporter as its only value.
- andrei_says_ 5y agoBut many would if they could ;)
- villasv 5y agoAnd are regretting that they didn’t, and are considering something analogous
- missedthecue 5y agoThe sad part is that this company will likely make more money than the average saas startup.
- literallyaduck 5y agoThe site: https://www.truthsocial.com/ https://www.truthsocial.com/ Mastodon: https://joinmastodon.org/ https://joinmastodon.org/ Source: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon License: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/main/LICENSE https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/main/LICENSE Disclosure and same license are required.
- ephbit 5y agoNow if this isn't going to be a huge disservice to the cause of Mastodon (which I support, as you might guess).
- aaron695 5y agoUnder AGPL they do not have to admit they use Mastodon. They do not have to release Mastodon code under AGPL. The fact users are attacking them using AGPL over an accidental pre-release shows no one actually cares about what AGPL really means or stands for nor cares. AGPL, one might guess like GPL is now nothing more than a tool to attack people with. Similar to how MPAA and RIAA uses copyright. It's about time we say fuck GPL. They are not friends to the free information movements, they are the enemy.
