First confirmed US case of Omicron coronavirus variant detected in California
- koolba 5y agoRelevant facts are: 1) Traveled back from South Africa on Nov 22nd. 2) Tested positive for COVID on Nov 29th. 3) Fully vaccinated (doesn't say whether J&J or an mRNA) but no booster.
- poetically 5y agoI keep beating this drum: the virus is endemic. It is like the flu now. It's here to stay and it will continue to mutate and kill people if they don't take the necessary precautions by getting booster shots and wearing masks. The back and forth between Fauci and the anti-vaxxers at this point is just noise. The virus doesn't care who's in charge and what the social media talking heads are saying about authoritarian states and regimes. The virus is not involved in the culture war, it's simply in the business of making copies of itself. Politicizing the whole thing was a mistake on all sides and is another indicator that our political and social fabric is deteriorating.
