I’ve been using a MacBook Pro as a daily driver for about 6 years.
I had a 2015 MacBook Pro, and I upgraded once to the new 2019 MacBook Pro. Then, my company got me the new 16” that came out this year.
I write design and write software in my day job, including iOS. I also write cross platform code in C++ and Rust, and I do some data work/Spark in Scala.
My work involves using the Jetbrains products, and I use iTerm2 with ohmyzsh. I also use Omnigraffle for designs and white boarding.
It’s a wonderful experience. In terms of negatives, I hated carrying a dongle with my 2019 MacBook Pro, and the docking station I had would sometimes cause a crash. Other than that, no issues. I would rank the machines in order of the latest MacBook Pro, the 2015, and then the 2019.
Obviously the 2019 was a massive step up from the 2015, but the lack of usable ports and having to carry dongles was an annoyance.
