I think it’s more that people believe (in my opinion rightfully) that good design is a skill which comes with experience. That’s why I expect great algorithms and small software from graduate students and awesome design from established teams working on large scale problems. That doesn’t really apply here obviously. The BetrFS team has experienced members.
