Did I miss something, or does the page not say what WX86 actually is?
- lproven 5y agoYou're not entirely wrong. I thought the same thing. The info is buried well down the page: « Wx86 is a new component under development for Windows NT which runs most x86 Win32 applications seamlessly and unmodified on RISC platforms. » It sounds to me like a MS version of something Digital successfully implemented and shipped under the name FX!32: https://www.usenix.org/legacy/publications/library/proceedings/usenix-nt97/full_papers/chernoff/chernoff.pdf https://www.usenix.org/legacy/publications/library/proceedin...
