- charcircuit 5y agoThe probablity that a planet has life on it is not constant. There isn't a uniform distribution.
- xwolfi 5y agoYeah but you just need to think about what we look like and how we came about and look at the combination of things that helped (distance to the star, liquid water bombardment, moon regulation, Jupiter protection, time) to feel it's very unlikely there isn't just one other planet with these and at least cockroaches: that's enough to say we're not alone. And finding these alien cockroaches even if it take millions of years of travel, would still change everything. To see another life, you imagine ? We need to try. I know they re trying to build telescope with enough resolution to see seasonal color changes in tree leaves from here, that would be really cool.

- mensetmanusman 5y agoHow would one know that on a large enough space time scale, the probably isn’t uniform and approximately some number, say 10^-40?
- Flankk 5y agoThere are about 6 billion Earth-like planets in our own galaxy, which is one of about 200 billion galaxies. Your point?
