I was a huge Desqview fan, and I tried Desqview/X but didn't stick with it. In the 80's I built a multi-line electronic claims submission host for a local insurance company that ran the same app 4 times under Desqview (not X). Each app talked to different port of a 4-port serial card, each port hooked to a 2400 baud modem. I had to write an ISR in assembly to handle the incoming serial data because the drivers for the serial card couldn't do the job, but other than that, the Desqview APIs were all I needed.
