Solana’s Energy Use Report
- AlchemistCamp 5y agoThis is a big deal. For the energy cost of a single Bitcoin transaction, you could do about 10 transactions on Ethereum or 3,800,000 transactions on Solana. Solana isn't cheaper because it's not being used. It's already doing more transactions than the other two networks combined.
- righttoolforjob 5y agoTransactions only matter if they're for something useful, like trade. Just doing transactions back and forth produces nothing of value.
- AlchemistCamp 5y agoSure. That applies to HTTP and database transactions, too. All else held equal, I'll take the more efficient solution. A lot of people working with DeFi and NFTs believe the same, which is why so much activity has been moving onto Solana.
- righttoolforjob 5y agoWell, what I was trying to say is that it has been shown, time and time again, that the majority of crypto transactions are just air. Fake transactions to bolster volumes or other nefarious actions.
