I have no idea what you're talking about. The phone I am holding is one of the most beautiful, most innovative devices I have ever seen. It's truly amazing that a pocket device made in 2018 that sells for $150 (second hand, like new) can be as capable as a desktop from just few years ago (octa-core CPU, 6GB RAM and 256 GB disk + 400 GB SD).
While by default the OS is ridden with Google, you can trivially replace it with a free version and again, it's the best thing I've ever used - including PCs. I'm running full KDE, Node.js and VSCode on it - if that's not innovation then I don't know what is.

You are living in fantasy land! Congratulations. I'd make a big bet less than 1% of phones out there allow this. Everyone else is locked into the small balkanized application-centric hell-world of consumer smartphone OSes.
- emteycz 5y agoThere is absolutely no shortage of Samsung devices, and second-hand ones are even cheap. If people are buying pricier locked up alternatives, perhaps they don't care about our fantasy land... Anyways I meant AOSP Android, it's truly good. X runs headless alongside it and is accessible via an Android Xorg client.
