Several hundred Google employees sign doc against Covid vaccine mandate
- stevenalowe 5y agofor perspective: google has nearly 140,000 employees
- spurgu 5y agoFor perspective, how many Google employees normally sign "petitions"? The article mentions: > which has been signed by at least 600 Google employees And then goes on to state: > The manifesto is also the latest example of how unusually outspoken Google’s employees are Linking to: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/15/google-pursuit-of-jwcc-among-issues-of-top-concern-at-tgif-meeting-.html https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/15/google-pursuit-of-jwcc-among... Which states: > The question received almost 1,000 employee votes. So pretty much the same amount of people are concerned about the Covid policies as the moral dilemma of being involved in military pursuits. I'm not sure what to make of it, but citing the 140k number seems quite irrelevant. It would seem that only a small portion of the total workforce actually participate in these anyways, for whatever reason. There's surely (at least) an order of magnitude more people who actually care, but don't sign petitions for one reason or another. One obvious one being fear of retaliation and judgement. And with Covid that fear should be way higher than when concerning "ordinary" topics like military invention, given the perceived sensitivity of being "against vaccinations". Just my two cents.
