I decided last year to make the jump from a 5 year old iPhone SE to a Moto G Power.
It's not nearly as quick and doesn't get as many updates as a newer iPhone or even Android device. But the cost of it is nearly a quarter of the newer phones, for 95% of the functionality for my use and even has support for some things the flagship phones don't (headphone jack, SD card slot, multiday battery life).
I used to enjoy all the progress and innovations that happened in smartphones during the early 2010s, but now they've become a lot more expensive for not a lot more functionality. I'll stay on the budget train until the next big thing arrives.
All of my friends used to view me as the early adopter, and now I've become the guy with really old/budget tech that still works.
