Software engineers in China always want to be a manager not a coder. They even think they fail if they don't be a manager when they are 35+. Cause China is full of employees, if they only code, hrs will assume they don't have many profits. So there is a saying in China "Software engineers retire at 35." But the retirement is not decided by engineers themselves, rather the fucking cruel companies
- thorin 5y agoSame in India (I work for an Indian company in the UK), but that's not true of everyone, just the majority, Software wasn't always a highly paid job in the west with many opportunities and so it used to be that the people getting into it loved coding and technology. This is now very much the case and it's seen as the place to be ESPECIALLY in India. I have worked with some great Indian technologists, but there are so many IT workers there, with different aspirations, they can be hard to spot.
