Probably it's resolving the direct video (and/or audio) links and setting those as the source in the video tag. Like using the -g option for yt-dlp.

- makeworld 5y agohttps://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp has reverse-engineered YouTube, and can take a video ID and figure out the direct video link. The --get-url, or -g option will return that URL.
