Ever since Vista, I've set the task bar to be "XP" style. Small icons, and not grouping windows, ever. I don't get the point of needing to click twice to switch

Ever since Vista, I've set the task bar to be "XP" style. Small icons, and not grouping windows, ever. I don't get the point of needing to click twice to switch between explorer windows or whatever. I don't know why the huge, pointless icons are the default.
