Did we stop selling coke and cigarettes? Did we stop mass advertising on TV?
People are allowed to take the risks of living in a real world and live with their decisions.
- virgildotcodes 5y agoShould you be able to drive drunk?
- bmeski 5y agoDefinitely not. But you’re still allowed in a car with someone who is not. You have options. You’re not mandated to stay at home if you choose to drink.
- virgildotcodes 5y agoI think the most relevant thing is that the law prevents you from endangering the lives of others. If we are okay with it in the context of drunk driving, not to mention countless other aspects of our lives, I don't understand why it would suddenly be egregious in the context of COVID.
- sAbakumoff 5y agoyou shouldn't be allowed to go around spreading deadly virus and killing other people
- bmeski 5y agoYou shouldn’t be allowed to have kids because they use both gas and electric resources which are destroying the earth for my nieces who are already born.
- sAbakumoff 5y agoFWIW I see no meaning in having kids, never had, never will.
- spurgu 5y agoYou shouldn't be allowed to drive around in four-wheel killer metal boxes.
- davorak 5y agoFor the USA at least, we stopped putting cocaine in coca cola, we stopped advertising cigarettes to children, put limits on child labor, and many similar actions. Leaning towards maximizing liberty does not mean no or few limits. As sAbakumoff said: > your liberty ends where the right of other people to live begins. Cigarette smoking for example as a negative impact on non-smokers, but has not been outlawed. Due to smoking's impact though smoking is now more limited in many public areas, restaurants, and other areas. So if covid continues to cause more deaths than second hand smoke I can see and understand laws and regulation around it.
