Definitely better than nothing. In high school, I worked in our small town's library that had just converted to a minicomputer based management system. One of my jobs was to do the weekly backup (had to load up 5 tapes one by one to store it all). One night the system started acting 'funny' in my opinion, and with the help of the on-call engineer over the phone from Provo, we were able to finish the backup before the minicomputer fully died. They flew out to repair the machine the next day. I got a nice letter from the city manager for saving hours of MARC processing and other losses. No money, but hey, the satisfaction of a job well done is its own reward. :)
