That reminds me of the "garbage can turkey" we cooked at a Scouts camp one year. "Watch the temperature of the coals," we said to our turkey minder, "keep it low and slow."... But while we were hiking, the minder kept worrying it wouldn't cook in time, and so he piled on the charcoal. A few hours later, our 50+ pound bird had been transformed into a tiny black football. Fortunately there was a pizzeria a mile away, or it might have been Squirrel Soup on the menu that night. :)
