I have a single POAP I got at a conference, and I do enjoy seeing it in my crypto wallet from time to time. It reminds me of the good times I had at that conference. I stumble upon it more often than the conference badge I keep in my office. So it's neat. I ignore the over the top marketing, and will collect more in the future if it's practically zero extra effort to do so.
