I have heard here and elsewhere that their appliances are no great shakes either, that they are unreliable and made to fail in ways that take the consumer for a ride.

The oven melted it’s handles off and just quit out of the blue one day, so it was replaced after a failed repair, not with a Samsung. The dishwasher had problems, the replacement (still Samsung but different model) also had problems, and then we finally switched to Bosch. The microwave is OK, but the repairman who tried and failed to fix the original oven said that because the circuitry was in the door - don’t let kids slam it, be gentle, that fails all the time. The refrigerator also still works, but apparently Samsung’s interpretation of “stainless steel” means “dents easily.” All this in two years mind you. Not to mention a Galaxy Note 9 which around the same time eventually got so slow it couldn’t open some larger emails after a reboot and was dropping calls the majority of the time, and a battery swap didn’t fix it because it turns out it was a rare unresolved firmware problem! It’s now Bosch appliances and iPhones.
