Codd delivered "A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks" in 1970, and it took something like a decade (waves hands) for RDBMS systems to appear. Packet-switched networks, anyone? So it seems perhaps hasty to write off the blockchain entirely, though currently the idea seems to need a saner catalyst than these various coins to bring it to fruition.
