Ask HN: Why did HN logs me out of all devices?
From time to time, all my HN sessions, on all my devices are disconnected at the same time.
I'm curious if there is a technical reason for it or a "business rule"?
Apologies if this was asked before, I couldn't find a thread for it.
- tony-allan 5y agoFYI: I have a HN page permanently open on every device I use and have never experienced the problem you mention.
- CapitalistCartr 5y agoI haven't had this happen, nor do I know anyone else that's had it. However, I have an HN tab always open on my phone; maybe that's it. Maybe something about your setup is triggering an HN bug?
- jstx1 5y agoAre you logging out on any of the devices? Because logging out of one session logs out of all sessions; this seems to be intended behaviour.
- Raed667 5y agoBingo! I have tried to replicate and indeed, logging out of one browser closes all active sessions. Curious behavior.
