Hey HN -- I'm finally getting moving on one of the biggest projects I think I'll undertake (it's a cloud provider that aims to run everywhere AWS/GCP/Azure aren't), but while working on that I couldn't help but do some yak shaving on the pre-launch landing page.
What I wanted to see was if I could get an API driven approach that was easy to modify/surface to non-technical people and avoid the usual flat file/SQLite/Postgres. I ended up with the usual interest-gathering landing page but with an API that writes to Baserow[0] instead of the database directly (there's technically a database behind baserow of course), which so I wrote about the process. I hit a few gotchas along the way so I did a writeup.
I think there's some interesting mashups of "traditional" code-driven flows and no-code tools that are yet to be explored so this was one of the things that felt like a good fit. Similarly A combination of Firestore and Rowy[1] would have achieved similar results.
If I was interested in pure efficiency MailChimp/Firebase/drag&drop landing page builders/etc would have been the right choice of course -- but where's the fun in that?
