Considering how "judgey" bay area tech is I would never make such a move. Any sign of not being a steadfast workaholic is a "red flag."

- cloverich 5y agoI was recently screening resumes for one of those bay area tech companies. I can honestly say they were so desperate for quality coders that work gaps never even came up. If you have prior start up experience, are not an asshole, and can answer stupid algorithmic questions you aren't going to have problems getting a river of money dumped on you after taking a sabbatical. Just make sure you budget some serious interview prep time into your sabbatical plans if you aren't already good at it, otherwise you are bound for some anxiety.
