Your life wouldn't be at genuine risk compared to the withdrawal you get from various drugs. But yeah, it's entirely possible that you'd feel horrible for a while. True for me, at least. I suggest you try it to find out (never rely on your ability to perceive your own addiction! check and see what actually happens).
