SVGcode – Convert raster images to SVG vector graphics
- tomayac 5y agoThanks for sharing! Tom, the developer of SVGcode, here, happy to answer questions!
- car 5y agoVery impressive. Is there documentation for the parameters (they weren’t always intuitive to me)? How did you implement it?
- tomayac 5y agoThanks for the kind words! The documentation is still missing (tracked in part as https://github.com/tomayac/SVGcode/issues/19 https://github.com/tomayac/SVGcode/issues/19), but Potrace, the library SVGcode is based upon, has detailed information in a PDF on all parameters: http://potrace.sourceforge.net/potracelib.pdf http://potrace.sourceforge.net/potracelib.pdf.

- terrycody 5y agoNice tool and free! Thanks!
- tomayac 5y agoYou’re welcome! With the underlying library Potrace being free, it was just a question of adding an expressive enough GUI on top.
- FractalHQ 5y agoThis is one of the few features of Adobe Software I’ve been unable to replace. I use Adobe illustrators “trace image” tool for this every so often, and I’m excited to learn that I might finally have an alternative that isn’t overpriced malware!! I’m really looking forward to trying this out!
- tomayac 5y agoYou’re welcome! The fun fact is that some (not sure about Illustrator [probably not], but definitely some non-free alternatives) use a commercial license of Potrace internally, that is, the same library that is used in SVGcode.
- juangburgos 5y agoGood job man. I have used inkscape in these kind of tasks, but it seems that with every new version, it sucks even more. Seeing these kind of web apps is refreshing! Just some feedback, saving the SVG produces an all black SVG, copying the SVG copies nothing.
