- poorjohnmacafee 5y agoIn CCP land you don't report to the police crimes of top CCP officials. I'm sure they won't comment, but it's a major scandal involving the "vice president" equivalent in the CCP, I think any other administration anywhere would comment.
- saghm 5y agoI mean, if the worry is that the government disappeared her, the police would at best not be much help and at worst be the ones who kidnapped her in the first place. The police saying it wasn't reported doesn't necessarily mean that's true, and even if it is, it doesn't necessarily mean much.
- zht 5y agobecause the person making the accusation has been missing?
- chrischen 5y agoFor things like this publicity is the only weapon.
- olliej 5y agoIndeed, why should the government comment on the disappearance of a public figure just after they stated that they were sexually assaulted by a major figure in that government? What possible reason could there be?
- xdennis 5y ago> this crime was not even reported to police Maybe she would have, but it's difficult to report something when you've been disappeared.
- hahan_may 5y agoreporting to police sounds ridiculous in Chinese context. I'm sure if Peng shuai is not an internationally renowned athlete, she'll be end up in a state run lunatic home, which is actually the best outcome for her. Their Mao Tze Tung once raped a 14 year old. That little girl had worshiped Mao before the rape. She didn't want to be a young mistress like many others. She was not executed because her family hold high ranking positions in the party. So she ended up in those homes. China experts plz dont say this is a madeup story. Her name is huimin chen. The story is well known with the party and told to the public by Mao's long-time secretary. Actually they talk about raping young girls as anecdotes of powerful men.
