Extortion is really unpopular. If I want to be safe from Apple trackers I have to engage with said company on their terms. It is at least unethical.

- breakfastduck 5y agoHardly extortion. It's not like Apple are the only company in the world manufacturing tracking devices. In fact with most tracking systems their entire MO is to NOT alert the person you're tracking to their existence.
- jvolkman 5y agoOne difference is that acquiring those other devices requires premeditation, whereas an AirTag is a cheap impulse purchase at Target.
- breakfastduck 5y agoI don't see how that's relevant.
- imwillofficial 5y agoPlanting a tracker on somebody requires premeditation
- imwillofficial 5y agoHow is this extortion? Apply is the only tracker company with free notifications to prevent abuse.
