We tried Tesla's 'full self-driving.' Here's what happened
- sschueller 5y agoAll the comments on YouTube basically say "it's beta". How long can one sell FSD and blame all missteps on Beta Software? Also what about all the people who didn't sign the beta agreement that are part of the beta because they are in public?

- natch 5y agoTesla’s full self driving is something that’s being worked on for the future. You literally cannot try it because it literally does not exist. Yet. So CNN’s headline is dishonest.
- YXNjaGVyZWdlbgo 5y agoIt's hard to find anything on tesla.com but in their Q3 2021 Report they themselves say they rolled out the full self driving city street beta to some vehicles and I guess CNN had access to one of these vehicles. They probably should fix their terminology if they don't want the terms full-self-driving city streets, full-self driving highway and full-self-driving transposed in journalistic articles especially when they don't distinguish between them in articles on their own site. - zeusk 5y agoTesla has so many versions of "FSD" or Full Self Driving because they keep shifting the post for what exactly is Full Self Driving. What even is FSD compared to SD, where did the need to tack on "Full" come from? And I bet it's because of them calling their lane assist cruise "Autopilot" which implies self driving.
- natch 5y ago$ python >>> “Full Self Driving” == “Full Self Driving beta” False hmm But yes CNN does have trouble with accuracy.

- natch 5y agoPeople are so confused about FSD beta. Tesla should come up with another term for their current efforts, but not because they have done anything wrong, but just because people are so dense. A good model to follow here would be the naming of the National Ignition Facility. There’s no doubt a reason why they didn’t call it the National Sustained Fusion Facility. (I’m not here to debate that reason though, I’m just using it as an example.) Because, if they did, idiots at CNN and the like would be writing headlines like “We went to Livermore to see the ‘Sustained Fusion’ at the National Sustained Fusion Facility.” Not to mention what Congress would think.
