To me, detailed estimates can make sense if you're working in a factory/conveyor-belt environment - where the products are very similar, and you (the company) has shipped hundreds to thousands of such products. At least then you should have some data to look at - but when it comes to boutique products, with new clients, new teams, etc. who knows - you could easily get stuck on something for weeks to months, with no obvious resolution.
