Quit my job to take a contract where I could learn some new stuff, actually go into an office, but without getting emotionally invested so I could reevaluate what I want out of life and work on my health. I got this crazy idea that I want to go to space so I’m getting my pilots license, losing some weight, learning a bunch of astronomy, and I’m going to start looking for jobs in the space sector here in the next couple months.
- meremortals 5y agoVery intrigued. Mind sharing your approximate age? Is the plan to get a foot in the door via IT work and transition to astronaut work?
- starwind 5y agoI'm about 30. That's almost exactly the plan. I have a security clearance and I live in Colorado so a lot of space-adjacent jobs are available to me. I'm trying to get into software on a satellite program, make some connections, and see what comes up along the way
- meremortals 5y agoVery inspiring. Best of luck!
- smackeyacky 5y agoThat is a cool idea even if it doesn't work out for you. Good luck and I hope you get there!
