- dm319 5y agoWeird, I pay taxes to fund the NHS, and I get a great deal here in the UK compared to the US. From my perspective your medical system squanders money on inefficiency and lining pockets, while you pay more and get refused treatment more.
- defaultprimate 5y ago>you pay more and get refused treatment more Unless you have cancer or an illness that requires tailored treatment. The US has significantly better severe illness outcomes than the UK.
- sharemywin 5y agodefine "good" good in your eyes or in my eyes or 60% of societies eyes? The fun part is monopolies keep popping up everywhere as they divide us over everything else and we have defacto socialism because either way all your choice is gone.
- cplusplusfellow 5y agoPlenty of us agree on what is “good”, including people who can objectively see that government officials are the root cause of inefficient spending, as they are the root cause of inefficient tax systems. It’s not a debate about whether it’s “good” to end world hunger, it’s a debate about whether it should cost $700 a meal to fix the problem, and who should pay for it. On the subject of tax systems, I won’t sit for lecturing how the billionaire and political class evade $500b of taxes, and therefore this is some rationale for raising taxes on everyone who isn’t a billionaire.

- missedthecue 5y ago"They're not spending it so well that we should be donating extra", as the late great Kerry Packer quipped.
