just to be a little contrarian, i have wondered if the Apple Watch hasn't stagnated.
i have one and i like the product category, but legitimately what has the last several years brought to the watch in term of Kevin Lynch's team? new yearly watch faces? new "dance" activity monitoring?
put another way, if you were to peruse apple fan blogs there are very little "wish list" features being clamored for, no? i take this to mean that the watch is either in a great state...or perhaps it's kind of stuck with a general lack of imagination on where it can go and do.
- gnicholas 5y agoI hope it hasn't stagnated, since it still doesn't have a feature that I (and many other people) consider essential: multi-day battery life. I'm hanging onto my Pebble as long as possible, in the hopes that Apple will have 5+ day battery life by the time I have to upgrade.
- ibero 5y agoi do think it'll get there because it seems like the Apple Watch could be a manufacturing test bed for whatever AR product they are developing. and battery performance is at the very top. in some ways the Apple Watch is a package that allows Apple to iterate on key elements of the miniaturization technology while having consumers pay for it and scale. i just think that it feels like that's all Apple Watch is now, just a place to iterate hardware tech for some other future device they are more interested in.
