Much of the engineer-porn industry is just marketing hype, so if you set out to get a job based on marketing hype I'm afraid you might be disappointed. You could try to find a product that interests you intrinsically rather than based on marketing? If you have passions, it's rarely a bad idea to pursue them unless the industry exploits said passion (ie, games industry). Failing that, money's always nice.
