This argument of descent towards zero is too focused on the individual. In reality many people in the world pursue money to feed their family and children, as well as provide a wealth foundation that can last generations. If you were to pass away and you had young children or a partner with no income, the value of money would not descend to zero. In fact, the graph can increase in some cases (eg hospital bills, funeral costs, providing for widow and children). I find this individual centered thinking more prevalent in certain western cultures.
