Our teenage boy faces a strict limit of 24 hours a day of screen time. If he goes over, well that's okay, because he'll be getting a Nobel Prize. On a serious note, it works for him, so we haven't had a reason to change it. If he stays up too late, he knows he'll be tired the next day. If he misses assignments at school or does poorly, he knows he'll lose his devices. He's active in sports twelve months a year, so no concerns about physical fitness. Everything with kids is YMMV - what works for us would be a disaster for many.
