The stuff that DevOps and SREs do is what SysAdmins have always done, but developers don’t seem to have known that, or intentionally ignored it, and invented a bunch of new labels for things that already existed. The idea that SysAdmins are just Windows button clickers and tape monkeys was completely invented by the DevOps movement as a way to create an “other” so they could justify their “new thing”. I do agree, however, that this coup has been successful, so using those search terms will probably result in what most SysAdmins are looking for.
