I'm neither a Lambda School hater nor a patent lawyer, but it seems a little far-fetched to me that a company can lay claim to a letter of the Greek alphabet. I wonder if the settlement made Lambda School's name change absolutely necessary, or if it simply provided convenient cover
- function_seven 5y agoI'm sure DEC back in the day would have had a valid claim against another chip maker using "Alpha", or Delta against another airline, or Omega against another watchmaker. Companies have trademarks that are single Greek letters. I guess the question is: did Lambda School's line of business overlap Lambda Labs'? At first blush I don't think so. One is a school and the other is in hardware. But I'm also no lawyer so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
