Embracing a new identity as Bloom Institute of Technology
- thenanyu 5y agoThis is transparently a response to all of the negative publicity they’ve received. Understandable. When students google for Lambda School the SEO returns all the recent bad news items. It might work.
- nickphx 5y agoOr... the result of a settlement of a trademark infringement lawsuit brought against Lambda School by Lambda Labs..
- threevox 5y agoI'm neither a Lambda School hater nor a patent lawyer, but it seems a little far-fetched to me that a company can lay claim to a letter of the Greek alphabet. I wonder if the settlement made Lambda School's name change absolutely necessary, or if it simply provided convenient cover
- function_seven 5y agoI'm sure DEC back in the day would have had a valid claim against another chip maker using "Alpha", or Delta against another airline, or Omega against another watchmaker. Companies have trademarks that are single Greek letters. I guess the question is: did Lambda School's line of business overlap Lambda Labs'? At first blush I don't think so. One is a school and the other is in hardware. But I'm also no lawyer so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- fragmede 5y agoYou're looking for a trademark lawyer, not a patent one.
- vgeek 5y agoHow long until they come up with their own coin & ICO-- Bloom Institute Tech Coin? It probably won't be as onerous as most ISAs, at that.
- benjamir 5y agoThey payback failing _graduates_. While this seems fine and dandy: how many fail before graduation? -- just call it "gaming the onus".
