Interesting observation. I can second your sentiment. For my project, we've recently had a huge push through Google [1]. And I can't remember making substantial changes that would explain this phenomenon. I don't know why this happened, but I've also heard it from other projects too. But generally, I tend to think that it's always difficult to make out a causation for e.g. hype. Definitely FB renaming to Meta gave lots of mainstream credibility to an otherwise kinda-fringe space.
