The jaywalker should be seeking remedy from the state for the way the state treated her, and the state should be seeking remedy from the officers for not doing their duty correctly. The two cases should be fully independent, and if one succeeds and the other fails, then the state should lose out.
- Arrath 5y agoI'm heartened by this ruling, but the fact that a woman sat in jail for five months is disgusting.
- leephillips 5y agoIt is disgusting. Even more so because at least for part of that time the prosecutors knew that there was no evidence against her.
