this is so sad. I am sorry for your loss and this tragic story reinforces my thinking that the American health insurance system is a Kafkaesque nightmare. I work in healthcare tech working on tools to explicitly lower readmission rates and frequently wonder if my work helps to make it easier for healthcare systems to KYA (well, KTA) and streamline "bulk-handling" patients as opposed to effectively providing care for each individual patient. But really it seems insurance companies are legit the devil and in this case, the opaque bureaucracy of the US Medicaid system
