Russia hits satellite with missile creating large debris field
- coolspot 5y agoRussia just sends a message that when China starts advancing onto Taiwan and Russia simultaneously advances into Ukraine, the west should not get any funny ideas to defend anything.
- kertoip_1 5y agoShooting down satellites might be the same kind of threat that dropping nuclear bomb was during cold war. Technically they could do it, but potential consequences to everyone on planet are so devastating, no one would make such move. It would basically stop any advancement is space for years

- coolspot 5y agoIt doesn’t mean Russians will shoot anything, same as China openly testing weapons on 1:1 replicas of US carriers[1]: the point is to deter involvement of the West into Russia’s/China’s internal matters (taking over Taiwan/Ukraine) by showing seriousness of consequences. - arisAlexis 5y agoCan someone explain how this is not at the top of the front page?
- chmaynard 5y agoNext up: With FAA approval, SpaceX launches tens of thousands of satellites into near-earth orbit and pollutes the night sky with their technological debris. No comment from the State Department.
