This article is pretty vague on the details of 'why' he resigned. Does anyone have more information? All the best to Steve and his family..

  To put it bluntly, he's dying. His health hasn't been good in a while[1], and he's probably resigning to a) spend time with family before he goes, and b) to limit the damage to the company when he does.     It's still pretty vague. He had the surgery to remove the tumor. Then an unknown hormone problem? They a liver transplant? What is he dying from exactly? Does anyone know?

      That's private. It doesn't really concern us. All we need to know is that his health issues are taking their toll and he recognizes that.
