There's something funny going on with regards to scale in the universe. Many of the qualitatively best things turn out to be composed of ridiculous quantities of much simpler things. Even down to particles and waves. The Tracy-Widom universality class posits that when a critical mass of simple things is achieved, those things begin to operate in complex concert, thus reaching new qualitative potentials. Food for thought.
