‘Ghost Guns’: Firearm Kits Bought Online Fuel Epidemic of Violence
- BayAreaEscapee 5y agoIt seems to me that this is an uphill battle seeing how quickly additive metal printing is going. With each year it's getting easier for an amateur to make their own effective firearm from scratch and and a design downloaded from the Internet.
- bayouborne 5y agoSince (at least in the Glock's case) the polymer frame is the federally defined and controlled 'weapon' and everything else (barrel/slide/trigger-assy/etc) simple accessories that anyone can own, it would seem we're already there. I presume Glock shape files are already out in the wild. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4dBuPJ9p7A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4dBuPJ9p7A
- natvert 5y agoAlso news: 'operating systems' developed by consumer-exploiting tech giants fuel an epidemic of ransomware. On a serious note though, the 2nd amendment protects the American right to own and carry a gun. We should be teaching gun safety like drivers ed, not blaming violence on the tool. Just like an OS, this tool can be used for nefarious purposes or the protection of basic human rights.
