For those who are upbeat about IF: some simple questions:
1. Does coffee/tea count as a "meal"? I can't get through the day without a couple of cups of coffee and tea.
2. This study mentioned a 24-hour water-only fast, not the IF that most commenters are talking about in this post. Thoughts on that?
3. I've been thinking of going on the "Phil Mickelson" diet: https://golf.com/instruction/fitness/phil-mickelson-age-defying-fasting-diet-explained/ https://golf.com/instruction/fitness/phil-mickelson-age-defy... Any thoughts on that?
- tomp 5y ago1. no. a "meal" could be sugar or cream in the coffee though. zero-calorie drinks don't count as a meal some people "cheat" by considering cream-only coffee acceptable as well (it's keto/zero-carb so might not raise blood sugar levels) - see e.g. "bulletproof coffee" by Dave Asprey (NOT ENDORSING ANYTHING ELSE BY THIS SCAM ARTIST)
- kilroy123 5y agoI regularly do IF and I drink black coffee in the morning while I'm fasting. I try to time it so even that is at the tail-end of an 18 hours fast.
- theodorewiles 5y agoI SLAMMED coffee the first few weeks and would also drink like a gallon of water a day. Helped a lot. I think the key is to choose the schedule that works for you.
