just make sure it's not "overly optimized" - https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=95189 https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=95189 (in this case it was gcc's builtin memcmp that was broken, not glibc's) :)
