I'd also be interested in a Stripe-in-the-first-place for the rest of the world. Right now, it's only in the U.S., Western Europe, a bit of South America, Australia, India, and a few dots in Asia. https://stripe.com/global https://stripe.com/global
No African country. I'm in Algeria, and it's not available here. Is there a blueprint or a checklist to get a country on the map? What would flip the switch?
- saadaneil96 5y agoIt wouldn't work in Algeria because of the currency! (I'm Algerian...)
- mathgladiator 5y agoIsn't the black market for the currency very strong and kind of open. I have heard that they send their kids to USA and currency exchanges happen over the phone at an insane rate between families in Algeria and those in USA. I heard it is more reliable than official channels.
- Jugurtha 5y agoWhat does that mean, because of the currency? Are you referring to DZD? If that's the case, the transactions would not be in DZD but in EUR, USD. Companies have bank accounts that are in EUR, or USD, and they'd link their account to Stripe and make transactions with these currencies. I was asking about a playbook to get it done, including getting laws passed and legislation changed. Is there a checklist or a list of required conditions to put a country on that map?
